About Us
SERAMPORE SANGHAM
“Serampore Sangham”, an NGO started with hope as an evermoving platform on the earth. The thought for journey developed in a small conference room of “Begum”, a restaurant at Sirishtala, Serampore,Hooghly with 18 to 20 devoted persons of Serampore and surroundings of the district Hooghly.The auspicious day was 15 Aug 2010.
Before registration “Serampore Sangham” organized its first discourse on 30th September 2010 to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of the renowned and pioneering chemist Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy at Sagar Bhavan, Serampore.
We registered the NGO on 25th October, 2010. The members of the then donated time to time to run the society till date. Teachers, Professors, Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Para-medical persons and social workers of different age groups are active participants to run the wheel since birth of this NGO.
We encourage with respect to all of the society to work in any spoke (as per choice) of the working wheel i.e. in any field work, cultural program, preparing and development of our magazine –“Sanghambarta”.
Logo & meaning
The Logo Shows a hexagonal star, contains two groups of words, three in each group.
1) “Satyam”, “Shivam”, “Sundaram”
2) ”Sangham”, “Swaranam”, “Gachchhami”
3) Name of Organization and year of estd. in the center.
4) There are images of 16 fists arranged in a circle.
We have seven primary chakras in our subtle body (a non- physical aspect of a human being described as an energetic or psychic body).There is fixed no. of petals of lotus in each chakra which control nervous and endocrine system at different levels. 5th primary chakra (Vishuddha) situated at throat level is centre of purification, it has 16 petals. Fists (16) in a circle is symbol of Purity, Unity and Power. Meditation at this level human being becomes purified, harmonizes thoughts, emotions and the body’s energy.
Inauguration
Justice Sri Shyamal Kumar Sen, former chief justice, Allahabad High Court, former Governor of West Bengal and former Hon’ble Chairperson, West Bengal Human Rights Commission was present and inaugurated the programme of “Serampore Sangham” by lighting the lamp on 15th January, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Rabindra Bhaban, Rishra , Hooghly.
Swami Somananda Maharaj, Rishra Ramkrishna Ashram, Rishra, Hooghly, Sri Srikumar Chattopadhyay, well-known Semi classical tappa singer of West Bengal, and Sri Sisir Ghosh, eminent sports personality, spared time to grace the occasion as special Guests. Presence of different dignitaries of our locality enriched the programme of the day.


Committee
We work under the guidance of an Executive Committee consisting of President, Vice-President(s), General secretary, Cashier. Beside this sub-committees for Medical camp, Magazine, Awareness camp, Garments and warm clothes distribution camp are there for the smooth running of work.
